Balancing Act

How I Manage A Healthy Lifestyle And A Busy Work Schedule

If you’re anything like me then you’re constantly racing around! Between building #TheDollDreamHouse and being the CEO of POSH PR®, I am busy to say the least.  But with being busy, I also feel incredibly blessed! I’m truly living my dream life. I think I pinch myself daily to make sure I am not dreaming!

In the midst of all the craziness over the course of the last few months I have found a few ways that work for me to help me keep my life healthy and well balanced! I want to share four tips to help you streamline #allthethings with your busy boss doll life!

1. Prioritize

First and foremost, prioritizing everything in my life has become my savior!  Before I do something I ask myself if this is an immediate priority or do I have the opportunity to commit more of my focus at a later time? This helps me prioritize the importance of each project to ensure it’s done at a timely manner! I also am the queen of list making… I literally put on my daily list things like “coffee” and “make bed” that way by the time it’s 8am I have already SLAYED with checking so many things off. It keeps me motivated to keep going!

2. Have Set Hours

Next, I try and set boundaries for myself.  Meaning, I will only allocate a certain amount of hours to specific things so that I can dedicate time for everything noted on my to-do list. Creating a scheduled checklist (literally by the hour!) and using apps that send me reminders helps to keep me on track. If I am being honest…I even schedule time for rest and relaxation! When running a lifestyle branding agency you never know what will pop up, but it is still an important mindset for me to have. Having set hours also allows me to be present in other aspects of my life, so when I’m able to spend time with my husband I can do so and not be (as) focused on work.

3. Plan Personal Time

Speaking of my sweet husband (hi, love!) that brings me to my next point… I know, it sounds crazy, but, sometimes writing on the calendar “personal time” is a necessity. As you all probably already know, I’m a worker—always have been, always will be! I love my job so much that often times when I’m excited about a project, I won’t stop unless I have reminders telling me to take a break. I digress, I still believe that even in the midst of all the craziness it is necessary to not forget to take care of yourself. So, whether it be physical, mental or emotional, everyone deserves a break.  I like to plan my personal time to get a massage, book a little getaway to NYC or get my hair done. Because, you know what they say, “If you look good, you feel good too!”

4. Take A Step Back

Lastly, sometimes its best to just take a step back. In the thick of it all, it’s so easy to get overwhelmed.  Trust me I’ve been there.  But, you have to remind yourself that you are human and sometimes everything that you wish you could get done just isn’t in arms reach.  I remind myself to be realistic and patient with myself.  Most importantly, I have learned to trust in my abilities and my quality of work. When I’m in a tricky situation I always ask myself, “Is this in my control?” If the answer is no, then typically I try not to let it ruin my day or stress me out!  The saying holds true… don’t sweat the small stuff.

I hope these tips help you when you’re presented with a lot on your plate.  Balance is key but definitely takes time to master! Sending love!
