My 2020 Word of the Year!
Dolls! HAPPY NEW YEAR! I have been anticipating this day for what feels like months now and I cannot wait to kick off 2020 with you! Cue the confetti!!!
Last year was a big year for both my personal and professional life. There were so many exciting changes — the biggest being our big move into #TheDollDreamHouse and #TheDollHQ! All these new adventures had me thinking about my Word of the Year for 2020. Now before I reveal it, let me give you a little background! At the beginning of a new year, I pick one word which I use to focus my “big picture” goals. My previous Words of the Year were “thrive” in 2017, “pivot” for 2018, and “elevate” for last year. This year I was inspired by the development and growth that lie ahead. So without any more delay, my Word of the Year is EVOLVE! Eek, I feel like revealing my Word of the Year is like my own little personal New Years Eve Ball Drop!
To evolve means to undergo development and gain through experience. It is derived from the Latin word “ēvolvere” which translates to unroll. It’s the perfect image to keep in mind because as you unroll or unravel something, you do so slowly. Change does not often garner immediate payoff and the benefits will not happen overnight. Dolls, it may be a slow process that takes some time; however, through willingness to grow and change you’ll be on your way to reaching your final destination — that dream life you’ve always thought about!
So why did this word resonate with me this year? Well simply said, evolve sums up what I plan to do this year! I plan to grow, to develop, to change as my environment does, and to learn from what I have already experienced — all while maintaining that Champagne life I’m always talking about! These past *almost* 7 years as the Head Doll + CEO of POSH PR® have been a true adventure. One of the most important lessons I’ve learned is to be willing to adapt and change. If you choose to do the same thing each day, you will get the same results time after time. Real change only comes through growth and pushing past your comfort zone. Okay TRUST ME…I know it can be scary, but what better time than the new year to push past what you’re already comfortable with? You have the power to change and curate your dream life. Whether it’s moving to a new place or going after your dream job, I believe you can slay all your 2020 goals! Alright Dolls, who’s ready to evolve with me?!
