FASHION ROUNDUP: The 91st Annual Oscars

all things pink

I am so beyond excited because once again, pink was the big trend on the red carpet for the Oscars last night! Let’s be honest, Elle Woods said it best, “whoever said orange is the new pink was seriously disturbed,” and from what I saw last night, pink is here to stay.

From blush tones to hot pinks there was no shortage of the color on the red carpet— here are just a few of my favorite looks from last night.

Marie Kondo

Marie’s Jenny Packham dress was one that left me swooning. If you have been under a rock and don’t know who she is, Marie is the woman behind Tidying with Marie Kondo on Netflix. So if any of your friends have been purging their lives recently— she’s the reason why. One thing that Marie says, is to leave behind anything that doesn’t spark joy, and this flower studded gown sparked nothing but joy within me!

Angela Bassett

This Reem Acra gown brought all of the drama to the red carpet. The one shoulder dress fits Bassett perfectly— and proves that strong women look even more fierce in the color pink— and to think there was a point when I shied away from the color!

Kacey Musgraves

This Giambattista Valli dress is what all of my dreams are made of. Candy pink and tulle— I mean seriously can it get in any better? Kasey’s soft features and simple hairstyle really allows the dress to do all of the talking. Everything just flows so effortlessly and I am pretty sure that I need to add this to my closet ASAP.

Gemma Chan

The horizontal ruched sections and high ruffle collar of Chan’s Valentino gown turned heads. Much like Musgraves, she let the dress do all of the talking with subtle accessories. I am all for a statement piece but if you know me at all you know how much I love my shoes and a great bag. This outfit would have been perfect with a sequined clutch to add a touch of sparkle!

Lisa Bonet (& Jason Momoa)

Lisa Bonet looks absolutely stunning in this Karl Lagerfeld dress. I am so happy to see her paying homage to the late designer and looking beautiful while doing it! Her best accessory of the night was her beau, Jason Momoa, who complimented her outfit perfectly in a blush Karl Lagerfeld suit— I’m pretty sure Momoa might have become the definition of trophy husband. What are the odds that I can get my hubby to put on a blush suit?

Sarah Paulson

Sarah Paulson is known to take a few risks on the red carpet, some paying off and some…well not so much. However, last night she absolutely glowed in this Brandon Maxwell gown. The caped top and cut out sides made for a dress that was playful, yet sophisticated for the occasion. I’m loving this fun and flirty side of Paulson and hope to see more of it during award season!

I hope the this trend is one that lasts through the rest of award season. I would love to see women (and men) rocking the color in all hues, turning the red carpet into a pink carpet! Pink truly is a color representing strength and power — and women are the embodiment of both! Which gown has your vote for best dressed of the night? Leave a comment below because I would love to know!
