Posh Icon: Carolina Herrera
Carolina Herrera is an icon for many reasons. For dressing first ladies—is anyone as iconic as Jackie O?—for being a muse for Andy Warhol, for celebrating women. For being an all-around #bossbabe!
Carolina Herrera was born into a wealthy but strict military family. Although her latest fragrance, Good Girl, was released in 2016, her first fragrances were created when she mixed essential oils as a child in Venezuela. Talk about a lifelong visionary!
In her 30s, she was a fabulous socialite, already considered one of the best-dressed women in the world, which is #goals. She began her career as a publicist for Emilio Pucci, going on to launch a fashion line on the advice of Dianna Vreeland, Editor-in-Chief of Vogue.
While some know her as Bella’s wedding dress designer in the Twilight movies, she also boasts such prestigious awards as the Geoffrey Beene Lifetime Achievement Award, a Couture Council Award for Artistry of Fashion, the CFDA’s Womenswear Designer of the Year and Glamour’s Woman of the Year award.
And I know her as the designer of two of my favorite dresses, one of which was also worn by Cardi B!
Carolina Herrera’s designs are luxurious, elegant, and sophisticated. A woman can never go wrong in her design, or with her philosophy of wearing a white shirt whenever you need to look put-together!
“I don’t get my inspiration from books or a painting. I get it from the women I meet.”
I love Carolina Herrara’s message of being inspired by women and empowering women through beautiful artistry. It reminds me a lot of my mission for POSH PR®!
XO,
