Fashion capitals all over the world have rolled out the runways! It’s Fashion Week!
Instagram has been a little more dressed up this week, hasn’t it? I LOVE how much a girl’s own personal street style is just as much on display as the world’s top fashion brands during Fashion Week. Fashion Week has always had a bit of an illusory feel to it, even to me! Always aware of the fabulous fashion fun happening in New York, London, Milan, and Paris — but also not completely able to wrap my arms around just what the production is like. But more recently, thanks to social media, the general public is able to be more engaged! Street style really is a fashion show in and of itself; you may not be able to sit front row, but you can live stream; you can read blog after blog about varying opinions and critiques about each show…there’s SO much more opportunity to be “ in the know!” And I LOVE it! Though Fashion Week may seem like a far off world, Saks Fifth Avenue offered a taste of what it’s like to be caught up in the FUN of it all!
On my most recent Lifestyle & Fashion Guide No. 8, I had the lovely opportunity to sit with Ann Darmour, the General Manager of Saks at Stony Point Fashion Park. At Saks, this year’s Beauty Week is all about “Front Row Beauty!” In other words, YOU are the star of the show. On Friday evening, Saks held their Beauty Symposium: an evening full of fashion and beauty! They pulled out the red carpet, complete with a DJ, a photo booth, cocktails, and hors d'oeuvres! The runway was full of one fashion trend to the next! (HELLO, VELVET!). As some guessed schmoozed the night away, others got to #treatthemselves to free makeovers given by the Saks beauty artists!
Dolls, this is JUST the beginning of what Richmond has to offer for its own Fashion Week! October 5-7th, I think we'll be in for a treat!
