5 Easy Ways To Give Yourself Grace In Your Business
Five ways to take a deep breath and give yourself grace in your business!
Costa (the fiancé!) is always telling me to slow down and to schedule time for breaks. Just this morning I was sharing with him my schedule for the week and listing off all of the things I needed to get done and Costa said, “Caroline, you need to slow down.” If only it was that simple right?!
As most of you know, I'm in the middle of moving my business to a new office space (eek!!) and bringing on a new team of employees. With all of this amazing growth and excitement comes more work and longer days. Yesterday, I didn't get home from meetings until 9pm and still had about 7 things I needed to do before bed...
Instead of my typical drink-more-coffee-and-knock-it-out routine, I decided that getting some rest was more important. I have been learning the hard way that if you don't take time to rest you simply are not capable of giving your best to your clients.
So, I want to share with you five ways that can help you give yourself grace EACH day!
Don’t Sweat The Small Stuff
There's going to be some incredible highs....and then there's going to be some difficult lows. You have to keep moving forward, dolls. Do not give things more energy than they are worth! Instead, celebrate even the tiniest business "wins" and let go of the things that are out of your control (this is what I struggle with the most)! Grace for yourself and your business means letting go of the small stuff.
Ask For Help
As much as I'd love to be superwoman and conquer the world all by myself, sometimes I need a little help. You won't always know the answer to everything... and that's OKAY!! You're allowed to say "I don't know" because it means you're going to find the answer and LEARN. Expanding your knowledge of your particular field is critical in the development of your business. Asking for help encourages growth! Bringing in support will allow you to concentrate on the parts of your business that you already excel in!
Schedule Time To Rest
I AM SO BAD AT THIS. I would work 24 hours a day 7 days a week if my body would let me. I'll forget to eat if I don't schedule it! But you HAVE to prioritize taking a break or you'll lose the passion that started your business in the first place. Schedule time with the people in your life that make you feel relaxed and happy. When you start to feel really overwhelmed, decide that at a certain hour you are going to be done for that day. Even if you didn't completely tackle your to-do list. Give yourself the grace to be able to stop and restart in the morning!
Don't Be Too Hard On Yourself
You know that little voice in your head that says "this isn't good enough"? STOP listening to that voice!! Talk to yourself the way you would talk to your best friend. Be kind to yourself! The second you stop listening to that voice in your head is the second you will start to succeed. The more you tell yourself you can, you will. The power of positive thinking is real, dolls!
Her Success Is Not Your Failure
Don't spend your time and energy comparing yourself to anyone. In this digital age of social media and internet convenience, it is SO easy to start comparing your life (both personal and professional) to what you're seeing everyday online. While your feed might be full of people's incredible accomplishments, remember that they aren't posting a picture of their total meltdown the day before. Keep it all in perspective and stay focused on all of the great things you have ahead! Stay true to yourself and you have NO competition.
Give yourself the grace and love that you deserve in your life and your business. Make sure you rest. Remember to eat. And take care of yourself so that you can be the amazing Boss Lady you were meant to be!
