I Choose NOT to Have Competition

Success is a choice, and so is competition. The Caroline Doll, CEO of POSH PR®, writes about choosing your mentality.

I truly believe I don’t have any competition.

I truly believe YOU don’t have any competition, either. Here’s two reasons why I know this…

First off, there’s no body else like you. A competition exists between two entities striving to be the best at the same thing. It’s impossible for someone to be the best you. It’s impossible for YOU to try and be the best them. Your success lies in staying true to yourself. You posses an amalgamation of passions, talents, interests, and personality traits that nobody else can offer! Listen to those and you will build a brand that has no competition

The second reason takes a little effort, but it’s imperative in order to stay true to yourself. “The secret to having it all is believing you actually do.” There’s SO much power in positive thought, but I think so many of us have the tendency to dismiss it. I know I do, in fact. I have to reinforce it constantly. That’s why I said it takes a little effort.

We’ve been conditioned, I think, to consider “positive thought” as a nice little practice to think about, but too cliché to actually apply. Yes, the world is full of obstacles and hardships. But YOUR success lies in how you see the world, not what’s in it. You can control how you see those obstacles and hardships!

So, how do you see the world?

When you see another woman out there, building her fashion brand, do you think that’s one less space for you in the world? Or do you see it as an invitation to get out there and add your line to the market!? When you see an office chair that would be perfect for your space, is that one more thing you can’t afford? Or is that another sale you can make in order to buy it? When the analytics for your Instagram business account completely disappear, is that work down the drain? Or is it an opportunity, a completely blank slate to build something even better?

I’ve been thinking about the idea of having a “Lack Mentality” vs. an “Abundance Mentality.” Have you heard of this before? Your mentality is a choice. Do you see the world as only having so much? Or do you believe there’s plenty to be had? Plenty of success, plenty of recognition, plenty of opportunity for everyone out there? It’s the latter that has multiplying effect for everyone. It’s the latter I choose to have!

Here’s a quote I think says it all:

“The greatest discovery of my generation is that a human being can alter his [or her!] life by altering his attitudes of mind.”

What attitude are you going to choose for 2018? I truly hope it’s one of abundance. I believe the world is waiting for your brand! Give it a head start by signing up for “The PR Behind the Pretty” business intensive. We only have a few seats left, but as they say, “the more, the merrier!”
