POSH Place #4: Hotel Mazarin
The Caroline Doll, CEO of POSH PR®, discovers a city within a city at Hotel Mazarin!
It may come as a surprise to you, dolls, but I am a homebody! There’s a security from my own house, my own routine, my own car that I crave when I’ve been on the road for too long! That’s why, when I do travel, I look for the kind of place that throws me into an experience that I can’t get at home!
This week, I had the honor of speaking at the Inspire Design Workshop in New Orleans. While in New Orleans, I made it my mission to scope out Posh Places, one of which was Hotel Mazarin, an oasis right in the heart of the French Quarter!
The French Quarter is bustling with activity. Royal Street, just around the corner from Hotel Mazarin, is lined with art galleries, while Bourbon Street, just down the way, swells with an energy unique to New Orleans, old world jazz accompanied by partying pedestrians! (I always thought New York City was the city that never sleeps, until my cab driver told me bars tend to stay open 24/7!) The streets of New Orleans is a world in and of itself! It wasn’t until I walked behind the doors of Hotel Mazarin that I truly discovered how the French Quarter got its name…
I read once that “Paris is a city of courtyards as others are of towers or parks or water…” From first blush, Paris is a busy city barricaded with aged walls twined up in rod iron and ivy. Little do you know there’s a whole other world behind those walls! Behind the walls of Royal Street and Bourbon Street, Hotel Mazarin is its own oasis! Just beyond the intimate foyer, the doors open up into an interior courtyard. Lush greens drape from the arched windows, as the fountain in the center of the courtyard stands calm.
It’s so funny how you would never know, behind those New Orleans city walls, a completely different oasis found in Hotel Mazarin! Getting to my hotel room, I would discover a private new alleyway each time!
Hotel Mazarin was in walking distance to all of the places I wanted to visit, like Cafe Beignet and Brennan’s (posts to come!).
If you're like me, and need a home away from home when traveling, a place to recollect yourself but still feel as though you’re in a whole new world, be sure to stay at the Hotel Mazarin!
