How To Create Your Wedding Theme
Spring is in the air, sweet friends! And, while it can be difficult to pry yourself away from work, taking the time to sit mindfully in the moment and appreciate the beauty of the world around you can be so rejuvenating! On this gorgeous spring day, we’re seeing the world through rosy-colored lenses…and we’d like to inspire you to do the same.
Since Wednesdays here at The Caroline Doll blog are devoted to all things wedding-related, we’d like to share with you Dolls some of our best advice for creating a unique theme for your upcoming wedding. A fun new trend in wedding planning, choosing a theme can provide a helpful structure and cohesive vision for your event, while ensuring a unique and memorable experience for your guests!
Reflect On All the Things You Love—
Take a moment to think about all the things that make you happy—aside from your precious sweetheart! Like our sweet Caroline, do you love all things pink and girly? Or, do you prefer a different aesthetic…maybe vintage bohemian or rustic chic? What do you love to do in your spare time…flip through fashion magazines or go on a walk through nature? All of these things should combine to form the basis for your potential theme. Caroline, for example, may be best served by a fun, feminine, fashion-infused theme—like princess glam. Unlike current trends, your wedding memories will last forever; so make sure that they gorgeously reflect your authentic self.
Exhibit That Fabulous Personality—
As I’m sure most of you know, and despite its main purpose, the wedding day is all about the bride! In creating a unique theme, you will have the perfect opportunity to showcase that fun, flirty personality that everyone in attendance loves so dearly! If you’re a sweet, book-loving diva, consider a vintage glam theme; and, if you’re a romance-loving, pink-wearing Doll, then how about a fairytale theme? All that really matters is that your wedding day includes all the things that make you happy…and, with the appropriate theme, that can all but be guaranteed!
Derive Inspiration From Your Surroundings—
When you actually take the time to notice your surroundings, as I mentioned before, it can have a rejuvenating effect on your mind and your soul. However, it can also be an incredible source of inspiration! In your home, whether you mean to or not, you surround yourself with the things that make you happy; you paint your walls with your favorite colors, you hang art that inspires you, and you feature textures that give you comfort. So, if you’re feeling a bit blocked in your quest to create the perfect wedding theme, look around you. Now, take this image and push it to the limit—make it bigger, better, and prettier! Do you have general mental picture? Fabulous…now on to our next step!
Use Your Imagination—
This is every wedding planner’s secret weapon…their creative and vivid imaginations! Remember that afore-mentioned mental picture? Take that image and compare it to the wedding that you’ve dreamed of when you were a little girl (let’s just admit it…we all dreamed of our “happily ever after!)—the perfect theme for your unique wedding should ideally be a combination of these two visions. However, if you are having trouble mixing these two ideals, then you may need some creative fuel to kick start the process. Look through wedding magazines, Pinterest, Instagram, and whatever other sources of inspiration that you can get your hands (or eyes) on, then make a vision board with these ideas. From there, simply let your imagination run wild…you may be surprised by the fabulously creative force that you’ll unleash!
In laying out these suggestions, we hope to have provided you with a general guideline of things to consider when establishing your wedding theme. However, we also hope that we’ve inspired you to stray from “the norm”, and to truly get creative in planning your big day. After all, your wedding day is all about you and your sweetheart—so let your brilliant personalities shine through as you take center stage!
Happy Wednesday, Dolls!
Till tomorrow…
XOXO
