Turning 30 - Cause for Celebration, Not Fear!
Here at The Caroline Doll blog, we have more cause than usual to be celebrating on this fabulous Friday. In fact, I hereby dub today “Caroline Day”—in honor of our fabulous CEO, Miss Caroline Birgmann! Now this is a true boss lady, my friends; and we’ve been hard-at-work planning for her big birthday…but more about that later! What I’d really like to discuss today isn’t so much about planning the party for your big 3-0, but the mental game.
Turning 30 is no joke, my friends. While some people are able to “take it in stride”, others really struggle with all the implications of this supposed milestone. After all, we’re supposed to have our lives all figured out by 30…right? Wrong. In my not-so-humble opinion, you have two options; you can be depressed by the fact that you may not be where you thought you’d be by this age, or you can you consider this a jumping-off point—a catalyst to get you to start creating your best life NOW!
So, today we are sharing Caroline's top 5 ways to embrace turning 30!
1. Be Proud of Your Accomplishments.
Think back to your life five years ago. How different are things today?! Even our sweet Caroline wasn’t on her ideal career path, then; she wasn’t a lifestyle expert, PR guru, or event planner when she was 25…she was in medical sales! All of this is to say…be proud of your accomplishments. Be proud of every obstacle that you’ve overcome. Be proud of the difficult decisions that you’ve made. Be proud of the current “season” of your career. Celebrate how far you’ve come! Sure, you’re not perfect…but no one is! I think John Steinbeck said it best, “And now that you don’t have to be perfect, you can be good.”.
2. Like Who You Are Today.
This is so important…not only as you approach another birthday, but always. Think of it this way…you are the ONLY person that you have to deal with every moment of every day—rain or shine—that you live on this Earth. Everyone in your life is negotiable, except for you. So, whoever you are, own it! If you’re an extroverted chatterbox who loves to socialize, then get out there! If you’re a secret homebody who loves nothing more than yoga pants, hot coffee, and a big book (Guilty.)…then more power to you, sweet friend! Don’t be so hard on yourself…you’re doing the best that you can! Appreciate the person that you are…you’ve worked hard to become them!
3. No Looking Back…Only Forward!
I really struggle with this particular issue. I’m constantly thinking in “should”; should I have said something else, should I have completed this task earlier—this thought process can be maddening! Although I realize that it’s easier said than done…have NO REGRETS. All of your life experiences, good and bad, have shaped you! They’ve molded you into the wonderful person that you are today, and you should be really proud of that.
4. Make This YOUR Year!
As I mentioned before, some people really struggle with turning 30. They feel like they haven’t achieved what they’d hoped to achieve—whether that applies to their career, social status, or love life. To these people I say…why not make this YOUR year?! You know all of those crazy, wonderful things that you’ve always wanted to do? Go do them!! Success means something different to everyone, so go be successful in the way that is meaningful to you!
5. 30 and Flirty!
Do what you love—what brings you the most happiness in life. As Coco Chanel once said, “You live but once; you might as well be amusing.”! So, do you know what our beautiful birthday girl is doing today? She’s styling a “Chanel No. 30” birthday photo shoot…because that’s what makes her happy! Caroline loves planning pretty, fashion-infused events for her clients and brides, so why not do it for herself?! I think we can all take a lesson from this bosslady; every now and then, it’s important to take the time to celebrate yourself—in all your chaotic glory!
Whether you’re nearing 30 yourself, or far from it, age is just a number, sweet friends. Currently thirty, I sometimes move like I’m eighty, and act like I’m twenty! Once again, Coco really had the right idea when she said, “You can be gorgeous at thirty, charming at forty, and irresistible for the rest of your life!”
Happy Caroline Day, Dolls! We hope that your day promises to be as wonderful as ours!
XOXO
