Boss Babe Etiquette 101
Happy #MakeWavesMonday sweet friends! The past few weeks I've been thinking a lot about being an entrepreneur and the importance of having a healthy work-life balance.
This is something I have never been good at, even prior to owning my own business. I've always been the one to work long hours and go above and beyond in the office.
If you are new to entrepreneurship or if you've been in the game for a while, I've compiled a list of etiquette that I believe every boss babe should live by!
1. Don’t screenshots someone’s IG photo and use it to promote your business.
Do ask permission and credit your sources!
There are SO many times when I've had someone send me a screen shot of another boss who has used my work to benefit themselves. It is such a hurtful feeling. This is absolutely 100% stealing!
It is absolutely okay to screenshot someone's IG photo and use it to promote your business IF you ask (especially when using on your own website, blog, etc.) or if sharing on social media only, you give proper credit to the source. I like to add the cute little camera emoji and credit the source in the post. I also like to tag the creative as well to ensure proper credit is given.
2. Don’t blow off co-workers, business associates, or people you work with regularly.
Do put in the time to create valuable relationships on a strong foundation.
Taking the time to invest in relationships is crucial to your business and to your overall well-being. You never know where one conversation might lead and what potential collaborations could happen from getting together with other creatives. It's also nice to connect with others that truly understand your industry and your business! Remember, we are all in this together!
3. Don’t believe that you know everything there is to know.
Do be open to learning new things everyday. There is always something you can gain from education.
Attend conference, ask for help, google the answer if you need to! Even though I have been a business owner for over 3 years, I am still learning every single day. It is okay to tell someone you do not know the answer!
4. Don’t let fear trump your dreams.
Do put in the time and the hard work, you can make the impossible happen!
I was so afraid to leave my medical sales job and start POSH PR PR®. Looking back, I honestly can not imagine my life doing something else for work! If I didn't do things I was afraid of I would basically never leave the house! In all seriousness, do not be afraid of failure and never let your fears dictate your future!
5. Don’t copy someone else’s success because it worked for them.
Do the work on your own and create your own successes - you will be a better #bosslady for it!
This is so important! There is no step by step path that works for EVERYONE that will magically lead you to success. You need to stay true to your authentic self and you will be successful, because you will have absolutely no competition.
